This is a study of a sailing boat at rest in the Maldon river on a freezing cold January day.

I took a few photos of the scene and then, a while later, wondered if any of them could be worked up into a painting. This is the result. It took just a few hours to complete and it just seemed to 'work'. It now hangs in my friend's kitchen.
