Painting of Mercedes w196 formula one racing car

"Mercedes W196"

The ferociously powerful W196 was the culmination of several years of intense research by Mercedes engineers.

The painting depicts the famous British driver Stirling Moss (later to become Sir Stirling Moss) wrestling the car around a corner, tyres slipping and squealing and smoke billowing. The car in reality is a silver colour which does look blue when viewed in certain conditions. For this painting I chose to accentuate the 'blueness' to create a more striking effect.
